Syria Fatwa Council Underlines Prohibition of Cooperating with Zionist Enemy
The council issued an official fatwa on Friday in response to the recent bitter and bloody events in Sweida province. The fatwa issued a set of religious rulings that emphasize the sanctity of blood, social unity, avoiding sedition, and ban on seeking refuge in the enemy.
It said among the indisputable principles of Islam is the prohibition of treachery and cooperation with the treacherous Zionist enemy, and this prohibition is more severe during the sacred months.
Citing Verse 190 of Surah Al-Baqarah, “And fight in the way of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress, for Allah does not love the transgressors,” it said the enmity of the Israeli regime is a fixed and certain matter.
The council also stressed that killing children and women, attacking civilians and the weak, and displacing them from their homes is forbidden, regardless of religious or ethnic affiliation.
The Syrian Fatwa Council went on to say that the government has the duty to protect all citizens without discrimination, establish security, prevent sedition, and assist the injured.

The council also warned of the severe danger of sectarian and provocative speeches and called on people to verify the accuracy of news before believing or publishing it and to avoid anything that causes division and incitement.
The Syrian religious institution concluded by calling for peace, sparing blood, and avoiding sedition, placing the responsibility of maintaining national unity and stability on all segments of the Syrian people.
